![]() Sokka makes an accidental contract with a spirit to protect his tribe, resulting in rather … monstrous consequences. Sokka doesn't want to believe this, but no matter how many times he tells himself this all just has to be a dream, nothing seems to be able to get him out of this nightmare, even if his new form isn't something the boy ever hoped could exist in this world. If there are already similar games on the market, please let me know! The closest I’ve found is God of War, maybe Bloodborne but I haven’t gotten far enough to say.LazyDaydreamerX Fandoms: Avatar: The Last Airbender, Carrion (Phobia Game Studio Video Game) *Note: Cthulhu Puncher 2019 is not an actual video game, but if anyone wants to, they’re welcome to the idea. ![]() Any comments or questions are appreciated in the usual in the comments below. That is all I have to say on the subject, as a Christian journalist who took a whopping one “Art Appreciation” class. I’m not quite at the point of pre-ordering it, but I am roughly one trailer/press release away from doing so, to be honest. In conclusion, I am still hopeful for this game, cover notwithstanding. I mean, it’s no Cthulhu Puncher 2019*, but it’ll do in a pinch. All this to say, Borderlands 3 might not be blasphemy or heresy or promoting worship of false gods it has a good chance of letting me fight blasphemers and heretics and false gods. I think the cover art indicates that Borderlands 3 will throw its players against a group that falsely claims to be the second coming of Christ. And the “Sacred Heart” is a hand grenade, both implying the importance of loot in the games and that the psychos have an explosive personality.įourth, and going off the second, more than the third, Borderlands 1, 2, and Pre-Sequel all featured Psychos on the cover art, and they were, incidentally, one of the more common enemy types you face. The three fingers stand for Borderlands 3 (note how Psycho has pointer, middle, and ring finger raised most Jesus paintings have thumb, pointer, and middle raised, with ring kind of half-up because Jesus is relaxed). However, the symbolism also holds meanings within the Borderlands franchise. Namely the “Sacred Heart of Jesus” theme, with the three fingers raised to represent the Trinity, the right hand raised slightly to indicate power, the halo/glow around the head to indicate holiness, and the blue robes to represent…that Jesus probably wore blue at some point. Third, yes the art does mimic depictions of Jesus. ![]() The best guess is that Borderlands 3 follows the exploits of the “Cult of the Vault” hinted at in 1, 2, and Pre-Sequel. We know who’s returning from past games and who the newcomers are. Second, the cover art probably ties into the game’s story, which we know little about. I believe this is a step in the right direction for the franchise, and I’m glad they’re taking depictions of suicide seriously. I love Borderlands it has a close spot in my heart, but I don’t enjoy the “Psycho shooting himself in the head” imagery. Now, this is the smaller of the two controversies Borderlands 3 is facing–the larger one being the Epic Games related stuff which doesn’t affect me because I play on the consoles–and I’m hesitant to call attention to it, but I…actually don’t mind it for a lot of reasons.įirst, and foremost, it is a drastic improvement upon the cover art of the previous games. Of course, it wasn’t until it was slapped in my face that I didn’t notice the religious symbolism of this image.Īnd by “it was slapped in my face,” I mean “someone on Facebook called it blasphemy.” Now I know what to look for on the shelves in seven months.” I, the oblivious man-child that I am, brushed it off with a, “Huh. (Picture Credit: on Twitter, link:, also, not a Lego? Isaac? Are you okay?) You know, I think this guy might have the shiniest meat bicycle. No vague “Ooh, here’s the title and…maybe twenty seconds of animation” like how EA or Bethesda do. So, Borderlands 3 was announced in a kind of weird way for video games.
